Une anatomie de mouvements
3 hours exhibition performance by Pierre Larauza and Emmanuelle Vincent / t.r.a.n.s.i.t.s.c.a.p.e
March 8th-15th 2024
19xBXL is an original three-hour proposition at the crossroads of performance and exhibition. The public chooses the time of arrival and the duration of the documentary dance experience. To accompany you throughout the evening, a bar and food truck will be set up in the exhibition-performance space.
Visual choreographer Pierre Larauza and dance choreographer Emmanuelle Vincent (binôme t.r.a.n.s.i.t.s.c.a.p.e) invite you to discover 19 choreographic portraits rooted in reality. These are the life trajectories of people from Brussels whose physical practice embodies the expression of a visceral need for movement, such as Turkish feminist Nil Görkem's Sufi dance, militant sex worker Marianne Chargois' contortion, rising young circus artist Lucie Yerlès' aerial fabric, Robert Natan's hyper-performative crossfit or Ibrahima Baye Diop's singular use of a basketball...
19 choreographic narratives by 19 performers take over the Great Hall, accompanied by Rokia Bamba's live music performance, combining archives of testimonies and sound creation.
19xBXL is the culmination of two nomadic years in the Brussels region, during which the duo met, interviewed and filmed almost 150 movement-makers in a demountable transparent caravan : a sort of poetic architectural kit that settled for an afternoon in the 19 Brussels municipalities. This urban prologue, called 'Une Anatomie de Mouvement,' clearly documentary in nature, created significant choreographic and sound material that was presented on the website uadm.tv as archives.
Convinced that every movement is material for choreography, this project provides them with the opportunity to showcase multiple physical skills, beyond the diversity of practiced dances (contemporary, urban, traditional, folk, ritual, intimate, etc.). They have also always been guided by the values of interculturality in their activities.
In resonance with their private lives, their projects aim to develop an inclusive message that surpasses notions of gender, cultures, backgrounds, and ages to interrogate the multitude of representations in society, beyond stereotypes
From these experiences and encounters, Emmanuelle and Pierre became particularly interested in 19 individuals, 19 different approaches to movement, and ultimately 19 life trajectories that led to the creation of 19XBXL
